1. Remove the STAR screw below the HDD bay
2. Slide the TOP Part cover (Playstation3 logo)
3. Remove all the screws
4. Carefully open the TOP cover
5. Carefully remove the connector to the Blu Ray drive
6. You should see the CMOS battery now, in my unit there is a green rubber cover thingy, remove the mini connector from the board
7. Turn on/off the ps3 just to drain the power from the board (don't plug the ps3!!!)
8. Reassemble back your PS3

Sony's Official Statement:

"As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

For the latest status on this situation please check either the PlayStation blog (blog.us.playstation.com) or PlayStation.com

There's certain models that aren't effected. Mana's PS3 works. I know I have a launch 60GB, so I think I'm one of the models that may fall into the several that are. Ohsu's down too.

Regardless, there's a lot of people who can't sign in and or play any trophy enabled games right now. A fix is supposed to be up within the day and or if GAF's theory about it fixing itself by 8PM GMT, then there's that. I'm not worried but a lot of shit is going to hit the fan. Apparently a lot of the debug consoles for developers were screwed.

Signed in fine and own a Phat 80GB.

Only the amateurs got owned. Sony Voltic Charge blocked their barrier burst and 720'd them.

I'm wondering if you guys were all online during a certain time and the internal clock didn't reset for you because you stayed online. I know I had gotten off before 6:00 PM and didn't try to sign in until 9:00PM or a bit before.

Ps3s made after 1/1/09 dont seem to have the problem, fat or slim.

Hurp durp ps3 thought 2010 was a leap year for some reason and will only be fucked up until midnight tonight, more than likely.

Ps3 has no calender.
